Hello fellow burners. I am a machinist by trade - lots of skills and experience. I'd love to get into a shop with fewer, conservative homophobic asses. I know my line of work isn't the norm among burners, but if there are some of you out there - I'd love to talk with you.
I'd also like to get involved in some art projects. If any of you have need for machining ideas or knowledge, send me a note.
I live in Fremont (south/east bay).
Peace!
Smeeed

Re: Blue Collar stuff
Thu, October 14, 2004 - 12:21 AMWelcome, Smeeed!
I'm sure you already know about www.thecrucible.org/. I don't know if they have a referral service, but it couldn't hurt to check.
(And may I use this as an example of the BRCCC helping its members out? There's a lot of us out there. Imagine if you could find another burner who runs a maching shop?!?!)
Cheers!

Sun, October 17, 2004 - 3:37 PMHey Smeed,
I'm with NIMBY - you should come by some time - we have a number of tenants who are metal fabricators, since the bldg was designed with that in mind and as for diversity - that is something we have made a priority, speaking as a woman in a wheelchair.
Some of our metal fabricators include Rosann Scimeca - of Burning Man's 2003 Cleavage In Space, and Orion Fredericks (orionfredericks.net) and Therm (therm.biz)
You should swing by sometime.
